LCTC Post Trial Tissue Bank Established in 1996, the Liverpool Clinical Trials Centre (LCTC) has managed a broad portfolio of clinical trials with particular emphasis on hepato-pancreato-biliary, uveal, breast, head and neck, haematological and urothelial malignancies. The LCTC is supported in the delivery of translational activity of clinical trials by the Liverpool Good Clinical Practice (GCP) laboratories. Following completion of clinical trials managed by the LCTC, samples have previously been stored under several established tissue banks with separate ethical approval and governance structures. The LCTC Post-Trial Tissue Bank merges all translational samples into a global tissue bank which has a single overarching access and application poicy.
Overview of the Collection The collection consists of samples and data collected from individuals who have participated in clinical trials managed by the LCTC and who have given informed consent for the use of their samples in translational research activity. The samples and data available fall under four core malignancy groups:
Samples stored in the collection include, but are not limited to whole blood, cell pellets, tissue (tumour and healthy), plasma, peripheral blood mononuclear cells and urine. Samples will become part of the LCTC Post-Trial Tissue Bank upon completion of the intended primary translational objectives. Linked, anonymised data includes demographic, clinical and fully audit tracked laboratory data. Full information regarding the up to date collection and sample availability can be found here and further information can be obtained from the GCP Laboratory Operational Director, Prof. Bill Greenhalf. The LCTC Post-Trial Tissue Bank is licensed under the Human Tissue Authority research licence held by the University of Liverpool, licence number 12020.
